Frequently Asked Questions

What is Online Giving?

Online Giving is a secure, web-based solution where parishioners authorize a specified amount of money to be electronically transferred directly from a bank account or credit card to the church’s account.  Parishioners have access 24/7 via any computer with Internet access to create an account and manage their giving options in an environmentally friendly manner.

Which vendor have we chosen?

We have selected Our Sunday Visitor’s (OSV) Online Giving (OLG) solution.

OSV serves millions of Catholics worldwide through its publishing, offertory and communications services. Established in 1912 by a local parish priest, Our Sunday Visitor has grown into the nation's largest supplier of offering envelopes, parish and diocesan mailings, books, periodicals, address management and stewardship services.  They are a not for profit organization, donating a portion of net earnings back to the Catholic community through the OSV institute.  We currently use their envelope system and the Archdiocese of Hartford recommends them for online giving.   They offer competitive pricing and secure payment processing through Sage Payment Solutions, a world renowned expert in proprietary data transactions.  Sage is a global supplier of business management software to small and medium sized businesses with over 5.8 million customers and $2 billion in revenues.  They’ve been in business for 25 years and are in full compliance with PCI Data Security Standards.

What are the advantages of Online Giving?

It makes it easy to fulfill stewardship commitments, even when you are unable to attend church.  You never have to bring cash or checks to church.  Giving electronically also helps the church save money and plan its budget.

How are my contributions automatically deducted from my account?

Once you complete the online registration form, the contribution amount you specify will automatically be transferred from your bank account to the church's bank account.

When will my contribution be deducted from my account?

Your electronic contribution will be debited on the date you specify.

If I do not write checks, how do I keep my checkbook balance straight?

Since your contribution is made at a pre-established time, you simply record it in your check register on the appropriate date.  Electronic contributions are recorded for you on your bank statement as well as your online reports.

Without a cancelled check, how can I prove I made my contribution?

Your bank statement provides an itemized list of electronic transactions as well as your online reports.

Can I put different amounts in offerings and have all of them withdrawn at different times?

You can set up to contribute to different offerings at different times; however, you will have to set each up separately.  You will receive a receipt for each one.

What if I change bank accounts?

Simply login and update your account information.

What if I try Online Giving and don't like it?

You can cancel your authorization by deleting your credit card and/or bank account information along with your donation dates.
